In this exciting paranormal erotic romance, a dominant schoolteacher with a serious role-play fetish finds the perfect submissive in an infamous vampire lover.

Cerise Norrell, Type A substitute teacher by day, is ready to quit being a domme. Despite her best intentions, none of her partners can keep up with her scene fetish and attention to detail—let alone her demand that they have a costume and set waiting every afternoon by the time she’s home from school.

Over a dozen potential subs have left her in the past year, but just when Cerise thinks it’s impossible—that she’ll have to go back to vanilla relationships, or be alone forever—she meets William, who wants to make all her fantasies come true. He turns her home into a geisha’s dream apartment, a concert hall with a grand piano (which he uses to play an original composition while wearing a tuxedo), and even rents an abandoned loft for a zombie apocalypse scene—complete with canned goods.

But there’s something strange about William. Well, a lot of strange things. He must be absurdly rich, since he can afford to provide extravagant costumes and props on a daily basis without having to leave work early. He must be insane, since he puts up with Cerise’s over-the-top demands. And most importantly, he doesn’t redden when he’s spanked, and his skin is as cool as satin sheets. When Cerise discovers she’s become dome to the infamous “Chilly Willy,” as he’s known throughout the BDSM urban lore, she begins to find out there’s a whole lot more to her handsome submissive than a creative mind and a hard body.

And when it’s William, ironically, who starts pressing Cerise to give him the kind of commitment she’s never given anyone, it’ll take everything she has to work through her issues, confront her past, and learn to be vulnerable.

I found this book in the "$3.99 and under" category (I actually think I got it on sale for 99 cents), so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. But all my low expectations were definitely exceeded.

First thing I liked was that the author is funny and self-aware. Even her main character reflects inwardly that the vampire thing has been done to death, but just like the rest of us, she can't get enough! She has a sassy, dark-humored edge to her thoughts and narration, and I found myself giggling constantly at what she was thinking.

At first, I thought perhaps this book was going to be a weird cross between Twilight, the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and Fifty Shades of Grey. In fact, there ARE many similarities: The vampire is a really good musician, wealthy, and pretty much flawless at everything (like Edward Cullen), the main character meets regularly with her friend who's also a fellow Domme and her mentor (a la Christian Grey and Mrs. Robinson) and has a sort of alter ego (though instead of Fifty Shade's "inner goddess," this time the alter ego is the main character's sex-hungry vagina), and the humor reminded me strongly of Charlaine Harris in her Southern Vampire Mysteries.

However, I was pleased to find that this book is not merely a rip-off of other books. It was fun all on its own steam, and was really good at building up to the emotional backstories. Unlike Twilight, they were not declaring their eternal love at the drop of a hat. In fact, any talk of love sends this main character running for the hills.

The sex scenes, while perhaps not THE most erotic I've read, were still pretty good, and the elaborate role-playing the characters were into was interesting to watch as it unfolded.

This was a fun, relatively quick read, and I'd definitely recommend it to any of my girlfriends.

How to Discipline Your Vampire The DommeNation Series Book 1 edition by Mina Vaughn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

** I use my husband's account. These are my views and thoughts about this book, not his. **
This was my first foray in erotica. I read an exerpt after an intriguing Tweet by Mina via someone I followed. Let me tell you, I was hooked, so I bought it for my .
The first sentence made me want to put the kid to bed immediately, get into comfys & hunker down with something potentially juicy. I was SO not wrong.
At first the language was a bit jarring. Although I have a trailer trash tongue, I am not used to it in my reads, but I quickly got over it.
I was drawn in by the excerpt and to the last page, was not let down.
Mina created a strong MC with a few realistic flaws that endeared her to me. Miss Cherry's sub also had the flaw of being a repentant vamp, so I was cheering for them in the end.
Despite "Vampire" being in the title, I was overjoyed this book did not drown in the cliche vampire story. It was sprinkled in gently like powdered sugar on a doughnut.
My only stumble was the MC's 180° to change in order to get her man back. I understand the "why", but I felt it slammed into the story like a brick to the face.
Between liking it and loving it, it hits about a 4.5 so I rounded up. Overall I loved it!
Okay, I am not a true erotic reader and I never jumped on the fifty shades bandwagon - but still I found this 'silly kink' PNR story to be fun. Apparently this is BDSM lite, so not vanilla, with some bondage and some discipline (which - along with apparently manditory 'the club scenes' - is among the reasons that BDSM is not my thing and something I generally try to avoid.)

Here though the substitute teacher, Cerise, is the Dom and, William, the lonely vampire with worthiness issues is the sub, and her thing is an OCD role playing fetish - she obsessive about the details - and I found the role playing idea fun (despite the control element that comes with the D/s stuff) because they come across as a whole bunch of little stories. The PNR element is minimal, he's a vamp and he drinks from her at her command, but he's not a very vampy vamp - day walking (just sun allergic) and no problem with garlic. Supposedly this story is a P2P fanfic originally titled, Subplans, a Twilight one (of course aren't they all apparently) but I really can't say that I see any of those origins here.

So, I thought that this kindle cheapie was cute sometimes humorous genre mash up despite the riding crops, but I am still not jumping on the bandwagon.
When I first picked up HOW TO DISCIPLINE YOUR VAMPIRE at Melissa Petreshock's suggestion, I jumped into reading it without bothering to read the description. The title suggested it would be an interesting read. What I didn't expect was the fun, witty edge that Mina brings to her books.

Characters Cerise is not what you'd expect from a subsitute teacher, and William certainly isn't your average vampire. They each possess unique characteristics that make getting to know them a journey full of surprises. Mina also introduces a handful of other characters that add a mix of depth, drama, and humor to the book.

Relationships There is nothing traditional about the relationship between Cerise and William. Watching them navigate new and unfamiliar territory kept me turning the pages. The glimpses Mina gives into their relationships with other family, friends, and even Cerise's students were very well done. I loved the extra dimensions they added to the story.

Too Perfect or Perfectly Flawed This was one delightful, kinky tale full of very human missteps and frustration. Mina did an excellent job of keeping things hot, while making two very unique characters and their struggles relatable.

Jen's Final Rating 5 STARS. With so much to love in HOW TO DISCIPLINE YOUR VAMPIRE, I definitely recommend it for readers that enjoy a naughty book with a twist of humor. Read it. Enjoy it. Then keep an eye out for HOW TO REPRIMAND YOUR ROCK STAR coming July 21st.

Psychocat's Final Rating Psychocat enjoyed Mina's kink with a wink style. Though I am concerned she may have gotten some ideas. Please keep all cat-sized whips and canes out of the sometimes vindictive cat's reach.
